London: Dean and Son, 1850. Very good to fine. Some minimal browning/finger soiling, gatherings/sewing becoming loose.. A charming small format (4.5" by 3") story book for elementary-aged children with hand-colored wood engravings: "It is a sad thing when boys and girls will not learn to read, for all the things that they would like to know, may be found in books, if they can read them..." (p. [3]). Julia Corner (1798-1875) was a children's writer who published affordable books for children including a number of histories and fairy tales.
