Right On!'s 100 Super-Soul Stars
- Softcover
- New York: Tiger Beat / New American Library, 1972
New York: Tiger Beat / New American Library. Near Fine. 1972. First Edition. Softcover. [nice tight clean copy, with just a touch of handling wear]. Mass Market PB (B&W photographs) "An Official Tiger Beat Publication," presenting capsulized life stories of 100 "Super Soul Stars," compiled by the editors of Right On! Magazine. "Read all about the Jackson Five, Ike and Tina, Aretha, Temptations, Supremes and 95 other Soul greats -- How they made it -- Where to Write them -- And, as a special bonus chapter, Right On! has carefully put together 'How To Become A Soul Star,' a special section containing key information, addresses and names about all the Soul Labels and Soul Publishers -- What to do with your Soul Material." An absolute Who's Who of the Black music world of that time, containing entries on just about any performer that you can think of, and a few I'll bet you can't. (Pharoah Sanders, anybody? Or Marc Copage?) The only (slight) drawback is that the entries are not arranged alphabetically, nor is there an alpha index -- but there is a table of contents, so it's not too much of a chore to find the people you might be looking for. Very uncommon, especially in such beautiful condition (I suspect most copies have probably fallen apart from intensive flipping-through). Not surprisingly, OCLC records only four institutional copies. .
