St. Louis: Gustav Cramer and Julius Gross, 1880. Cabinet card photographs measuring 5 ½ x 4 inches on larger mounts. Fine condition. Fine. The German-American duo of Gustav Cramer and Julius Gross spent several decades photographing the wealthy families on St. Louis’s south side in the late nineteenth century, with Gross succeeding Cramer at their 1001 S. Broadway location. Offered here are three particularly fine examples of their work, including a striking portrait of a young woman named Emma Gerhardt, an older woman in religious habit, and a young woman with braided hair.
