Mahlon Day, a Quaker publisher, printer, and bookseller, was "one of the two printers who dominated the New York City children's book publishing scene in the early 19th century" (Modero). 4'' x 3.25''. Original yellow pictorial wrapper, saddle-stitched. Eight hand-colored woodcut illustrations. 8 pages, printed one side only. Contemporary owner name to verso of page 2. Vernacular sewn repair to spine. Wrapper with a bit of splitting to spine and light edgewear. Leaves with some soiling to margins. A sound example.
