It consists of long scholarly articles, largely dealing with astronomy, but also contains numerous miscellaneous subjects. There are 2 "letters" written from Peking by the Jesuit Joseph-Marie Amiot (1718-1793) on Chinese weights and measures (pp. 61-83) and an article on Polish windmills (pp. 107-164), etc., etc. The director of the Observatory at Marseille at this date was the French Jesuit astronomer Esprit Pezenas.
