Patent Medicine Trade Card with applied image Featuring Tribute to Abraham Lincoln

Providence, Rhode Island: Salisbury, Bro. & Co, 1866. Very good to fine. Minor toning/dust soiling.. Printed trade card with applied photographic image advertising Dr. Bicknell's Great Cholera Remedy, with an interesting inclusion: pasted to the recto is a (very Victorian, and slightly morbid) photographic reproduction of "Columbia's Grief", an artwork depicting the allegorical Columbia weeping over Abraham Lincoln's tomb. It appears as if the publisher produced such trade cards in bulk, and would simply customize the printed text to the business that ordered them--in this case, a patent medicine. The verso is printed with the publisher's information.

Measures 4" by 2.5", printed with black border and overprinted in maroon/dark purple, small (1.75" by 1.25") photographic reproduction pasted to center of recto. Verso printed in black.
