Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1881. Very good. Toned. Minor staining to lower right-hand corner of upper wrapper.. Also includes a biographical sketch of the poet Thomas Chatterton (1752-1770), a Sentimental story ("Aunt Leigh's Orphans"), and "The Mother's Corner", which offers housekeeping and gardening advice. The "Eclectic Department" in the rear delivers on its promise, offering articles on the Edelweiss flower, pig raising, life among the Jesuits, and "Japanese Horses and Carriages". 8vo (9.75" by 6.5"), pp. [3], 210-260, [4], in original printed light peach-colored wrappers.
