The First American Edition of Browning's Poems appeared in October 1844 (but post-dated 1845) under the title A Drama of Exile and Other Poems. This edition appeared in America the same year as the British Second Edition from Chapman & Hall, but unlike its British cousin it omits the newly-added Sonnets from the Portuguese, which C.S. Francis included a year later as part of Prometheus Unbound, and Other Poems.
