Built in 1816, the Cleopatra's Barge was the first oceangoing yacht made in the U.S. It was ultimately wrecked in Hawaii in 1824. Red cloth boards with gilt title to spine and front cover. Ring shaped dampstain from a glass to front board. Minor wear to edges of boards and gentle bumping to corners. Slight fading to spine. Offsetting to endpapers, some text, and most illustrations. Gift inscription in pen to front free endpaper dated 1922. 259 pages. MAR/062722.
