Bound in full brown calf and bearing a label with gilt titling and ruling to spine. Chipping to head and tail of spine; rubbing and bumping to edges and corners of boards. Joints repaired with dyed archival paper. Text block age toned and foxed and hinges cracked but stable. Handwritten ink ownership inscriptions to half title, title page, first page of preface, and table of contents. MF Consignment. Shelved in Rm. G. The provenance note at the top of the half title page reads: "May this be a guide to my daughter Caroline on the diseases of her Children. Nov. 14. 1835." A second note, in another hand, at the bottom of the same page reads: "This has been carefully preserved by my wife C M Brown untill her death which occurred the 2nd day of March 1874 at [illegible] 5 minutes [illegible] and I now give it to friend and brother in law C. H. Heydrick to be disposed of by him as he chooses. July 28 1874 / Thos. J. Brown." The name written on the title page is "C. Heydrick"; the name on the first page of the preface and on the table of contents is "Christopher Heydrick." 1355890. Special Collections.
