New York, New York: The New History Society, 1950. Very good. Minor toning or wear to extremities.. A mail-order service for the Green International Shirt, an effort endorsed by the New History Society in New York in an effort to use fashion to promote peace: "The red shirt of Garibaldi was as well known as Garibaldi himself, and the black shirt of Mussolini became a factor not to be ignored. Now we have the Green Shirt to be adopted by those who wish to go on record as standing unequivocally for Peace." Includes a detachable mail-order form to order the shirt, as well as a stylishly designed "Once Then Now" graphic which depicts the three shirts mentioned above. Measures approx. 3.75" by 5.25" closed. Addressed in ink with later pencil markings above. The New History Society was established in 1929 to promote the Bahá í Faith by Mirza Ahmad Sohrab, a Persian-American author. The Peace Movement, which used the present Green Shirt initiative as its emblem, opposed itself to Fascism and Nazism. Bahá í Faith teaches that all religions have worth and are unified, and was first taught in the Middle East before gaining traction in the U.S. in the twentieth century.
