First edition thus, of this play based on Akira Kurosawa's adaptation of a pair of short stories by Ryunoske Akutagawa, a psychological murder mystery set in Heian era Japan. This adaptation of RASHOMON ran for six months on Broadway, and was nominated for three Tony Awards. 8'' x 5.25''. Original cloth-backed blue boards with black-and-white pictorial paste-down. Original unclipped ($2.95) dust jacket. Black-and-white pictorial title page spread, with two black-and-white plates. 76 pages. Pages 20/21 partially stuck together, likely a manufacturing error. Jacket with mild soil, light toning to spine and rear edge; 1.5" closed tear near rear hinge, smaller chip to rear corner. Binding with a touch of sunning to upper edge, a bit of bumping to spine ends. Textblock firm and clean.
