Two volumes in contemporary leather, rebacked, gilt-tooled at edges and turn-ins, leather on boards painted over with red paint, all edges sprinkled blue; blue marbled endpapers; I: [iv],40pp; II: [iv],54; with frontispieces, engraved title pages, and 162 engraved plates, with brick red decorative borders and tissue guards. A sound set, internally clean, externally rubbed, rebacked, and "redecorated": Good or better.

Two volumes of three. John Thane (1748-1818) was a London dealer of prints, books, medals, and manuscripts. This set includes facsimiles of autographs, handwriting samples, and portraits of Renaissance and early modern British royals and nobles. ESTC T139249.
