Every page shows children in patriotic professions, including, Artilleryman, Bugler, Cavalryman, Nurse, and even "'J' is for Juvenile learning to drill." The letters form an extended rhyme with accompanying illustrations in vibrant color. The last leaf features a soldier-themed multiplication table. 10.75'' x 8.5''. Original pictorial card wrappers. Illustrated endpapers with red highlights, the alphabet on one and numbers on the other. Illustrated with bright chromolithographs on every page. [12] pages. Barely visible repair to front wrapper. Minor creasing to wrappers. Slight rubbing to spine. Interior bright and clean.
