Karina and Godard married in 1961, after working together on "Le Petit Soldat," and were considered one of the more iconic and celebrated couples of the early 1960s, with Karina appearing in eight of the director's films, including "Bande a part" (1964), "Pierrot le Fou" (1965), and "Alphaville" (1965). Despite their success and impact on French cinema, their personal life together was turbulent and ultimately short-lived, and the couple divorced in 1965.
