New York: Covici Friede. Good+. 1930. First Edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [light external water-spotting (mostly to rear cover), short bends at bottom corners of first two pages] Gentle satire of the "Ex-" genre of confessional fiction that had a brief vogue in the late 1920s ("Ex-Wife" and "Ex-Mistress" being the prime examples), as a former baby looks back from the perspective of his 4th birthday, and tells all about "the memories, the joys, and the sorrows of my youth." Although no author's name appears on the book, it's attributed to novelist/screenwriter Aben Kandel (by the Library of Congress and others); the book's dedication reads "For Stephen, without whose active assistance this book could never have been written" -- a reference, no doubt, to Stephen Kandel (b.1927), who grew up to become a television writer of some note. .
