Hand Constructed and Watercolor Good Luck Mystery Beauty Birds

1910. Two different Good Luck Mystery Beauty Birds. Each constructed of an array of brightly colored flowers with watercolor background decoration. The first is housed in a heavy card stock frame with easel back. It is 4 1/2" in length. The frame promotes Badger State Cheese Co. and appears to be a calendar back. The second is housed in a faux suede frame. The bird measures 3 1/2". These birds in a smaller version were often found on Victorian visiting cards. Found along with the birds a printed Story of the "Good Luck Mystery Beauty Birds" According to ancient Aztec lore, to possession of these Mystery Birds was to have the blessing of the Gods--the Gods of Good Omen, Good Fortune and Good Luck. The extensive overview includes information their origins and how the art in plumage and feather design was been passed down.
