Oregon, 1890. Silver gelatin photograph measuring 7 ¾ x 4 ¾ inches. Fine condition, some wear to mount. Fine. A striking photograph of a group of miners in Grant’s Pass in Oregon in the 1890s, including a woman and a girl. We believe the photograph to be taken near Tom East Creek, which provides drainage from the Greenback Lode Mine, produced a prolific amount of placer gold in the 1890s. A wonderful photograph that has a somewhat otherworldly quality due to the long exposure times and the sharpness of the subjects in relation to the creek behind them.
