London; New York: Erotica Biblion Society, 1932. Small Octavo. Frontispiece, 134 pages. The Erotica Biblion Society were published in Victorian London by Leonard Smithers and Henry Sidney Nichols in small printings or limited editions to allow the seller to know they would shortly be moderately scarce. This book begins with a drugged virgin who is defiled by the malevolent Valentine St. Giraud who was a rake like most of the characters in this volume. Unlike most of the American editions, these were often more literary (among the unknown authors of the Society are Aubrey Beardsley, Arthur Symons, and Oscar Wilde as well as lesser known figures such as Vincent O'Sullivan who was a better writer (John Cooper Powys' listed him as one of the top 100) and also known for his decadence which he shared in his early years with Oscar Wilde. There are six very erotic illustrations.(our picture is covered).
