Very Good in Very Good jackets, unclipped ($10.00 the set on the spines), generally toned, lightly soiled, rubbed at the edges with a few small closed tears and creases. Blue buckram, rubbed at the bottom edges, with cream pastedown labels on the spines. Square, the front hinge of both volumes crack, firmly bound otherwise, gilt top edges, clean internally. A life-spanning collection of letters that "form a genuine autobiography of one who may well be called the most interesting man of thought in America since Emerson."
