Takens' primary vocation was a veterinarian doctor for horses, and he was also a painter. He was a member of St. Lucas in Amsterdam. He lived and worked in Haren, Den Haag, Cairo, Egypt (1908-9), North America (1909) and Lugano, Italy (-1918). Formerly owned by Alfred Pearce, noted 19th century astrologer. With ex libris, "Sakti" Bumped corners, scuffing, mild toning, splitting to super (front and rear), otherwise tight, bright, and unmarred.
