Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $2.75), showing modest external wear, shallow loss at crown, with a few small nicks and tears; Very Good+. Brossard's first book, "a novel about "hipsters" and their girls in New York's Greenwich Village" (from front flap). Today it is considered a proto-Beat novel and the first American existentialist novel, though at the time of publication, it was somewhat misunderstood (and mis-classified) by American critics, the the book would find a more appreciative and enlightened audience in France, after it was published by Gallimard.
