Contemporary speckled calf, gilt spine with raised bands and lettering piece, edges rouged. Light rubbing, a few small dampstains and some shallow scuffing and scratches to boards, moderate rubbing to extremities, front joint starting at ends, rear joint starting at head, light wear to board edges and corners, which are bumped, hinges cracked. Light toning to interior, occasional very light foxing, faint dampstaining to first and last fifty or so leaves, minor worming to fore-edge of pp. 141-162, early underlining, marginal marks and annotations through p. 244 (and to a few other later pages), light soiling, small hole and early (illegible) ink annotation to title page. $650. * Later edition. Bohier, Viscount of Pommiers, was a lawyer and principal magistrate of the Parlement of Bordeaux. First published in 1547, his collection of decisions from that body was well-regarded and highly useful, particularly for issues of canon and criminal law, and was reprinted well into the seventeenth century. The annotations to our copy appear to consist of both brief glosses and interpretative notes. OCLC locates 7 copies of this edition, none in North America. Universal Short-Title Catalogue 6900334.
