Handmade Binding. Near Fine. Charming, skillfully-rendered 1945 handmade book of the costume and set designs for Pushkin's Eugene Onegin. The artist/bookmaker is uncredited but clearly shows much skill in his/her illustrations and composition. 33 nicely-rendered, hand-drawn costume designs, each in vivid color, with hand-lettered character names as captions. Hand-bound in a make-shift 1/4 leather over simple striped boards, with hand-illustrated endpapers but no titling/lettering along the panels or spine. Possibly the work of a talented, devoted fan, just as likely the unsigned sketchbook of a professional illustrator.
