NY: Random House, 1939. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Uncommon copy of pre-Luce Boothe's play that followed "The Women". Intended as a "political allegory about Facism in America" according to Heywood Broun in the forward, the comedy was short-lived but made into a film in 1941 directed by Victor Schertzinger and starring Mary Martin, Don Ameche and Oscar Levant. The plot was inspired by the search for an actress to play Scarlett O'Hara in the film version of Gone with the Wind.
