Swobodaism" Quack Medicine Advertising Ephemera
- SIGNED
- New York, New York , 1923
New York, New York, 1923. Very good. Toning, letter folds, a couple short tears and staining to typewritten letter.. Why take less than your full share of pleasure, happiness and success?" asks the creator of Swobodaism, or "Conscious Evolution", a mail-order scheme promising success and good health to customers. The scheme appears to be a glorified introduction to the idea of physical exercise and positive thinking for personal growth. Includes some fantastic sound bytes, such as this gem: "Your Creative Entity will give you precisely the powers that you need and desire if it is stressed organically into giving or yielding them to you." Includes three (3) printed handbills advertising the scheme, each approx. 11.5" by 8", and one two-page typewritten advertising letter (11.5" by 8.5") on letterhead signed by the creator of the scheme, Alois P. Swoboda (1873-1938).
