United States, 1930. Good to very good. Toned, some offsetting. Extremities of binding worn. One or two short tears, holes, no major loss. All samples appear present. Damage to printed label on upper cover.. A composition notebook filled with approx. fifty-five (55) hand-sewn samples of stitches, hemming, and embroidery, captioned in ink manuscript by "Mrs. Robert D. Patterson", a student of either sewing or home economics. She received a "B+" grade, marked in pencil on the first leaf. The samples show her progress from simple stitches (back stitch, slip stitch) to more complex techniques (buttonholes, pockets, patching, piping, smocking). Each sample is rendered in red floss on natural linen.

Large 8vo (10.25" by 8"), approx. 75 blank leaves with approx. 20 leaves filled with ink manuscript and sewing samples, bound in original composition notebook with printed paper label on upper cover with ink manuscript ("Mrs. Robert D. Patterson").
