By J. E. Norris [Editor]
Chicago, Illinois: A. Warner & Co., Publishers, 1890. First Edition. Half Leather. Very Good binding. Large quarto; in maroon half morocco over black cloth; 812 pages, with plates, illustrations and portraits; there is a previous owner name [W. P. McGuire] on the title page; we have little doubt that the original leather spine cracked and crumbled on this quite heavy book resulting in the need for a new spine; the new spine is lovely with gilt rules, decorations in blind, and a new calf label lettered in gilt.~~While reprint editions are available, the First Edition -- with its many sharp portraits and illustrations -- is most uncommon in commerce. Very Good binding.
