By Gardner, Erle Stanley
New York: Grosset & Dunlap. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. 1937. 3rd printing (stated). Hardcover. [nice clean book with minimal shelfwear, one-time owner's initials plus date & place of purchase and a brief commentary in ink along edge of rear pastedown (concealed beneath jacket flap); the jacket has some minor wear at the spine extremities, but is overall bright and attractive]. A sharp-looking copy of the first "D.A. Doug Selby" mystery, a series to which Gardner turned for the occasional break from cranking out Perry Mason books (at least until 1949, when the last of the nine Selby books appeared). The jacket design on this early G&D reprint is identical to that of the William Morrow first edition. Much less common (and considerably more durable) than the cheaply-produced Triangle Books edition from the 1940s. .
