N.p.: N.p., 1940. Vintage postcard photograph of actor Susanna Foster, circa early 1940s, with her signature printed from the negative, and a postcard layout on the verso.

Singer and leading lady, Foster is best known for her role as the terrified prima donna Christine in Arthur Lubin's 1943 film "Phantom of the Opera," opposite Lon Chaney. At 5 years old Foster performed regularly on radio and at 12 landed a contract with MGM, and was groomed and schooled by the studio alongside Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. At 14 she made her film debut in the 1939 Andrew Stone film, "The Great Victor Herbert," and at 19 starred in Universal's "Phantom of the Opera." She made several more films at Universal in the early 1940s but retired from the film industry in 1945, focusing on her family and her singing career. In 1992, at the age of 72, Forest starred in her final film, the remake of the 1945 cult classic "Detour," directed by Wade Williams, the only film Forest made after 1945.
