U.S. Secretary of State Robert Lansing's copy, with his bookplate on front endpaper of each volume. (these were purchased from a family library in Henderson Harbor, NY, near his birthplace in Watertown, which included many other works owned by him). Spines toned, edges a bit rubbed with some loss along corners, top of joints of volume three just beginning to split, endpapers a bit foxed, a few light spots (paint spatter?) on top edges. Complete in three volumes. xxxvii, 476; xii, 474; xxxvi, 436 pp. Brown leather, morocco spine labels with gilt titles and rules, marbled boards, edges, and endpapers. Originally published in 1827 in two volumes, a third volume followed in 1832 - this set includes first editions of all three volumes. Sir Jonah Barrington was an Irish lawyer who opposed the Act of Union of 1800, and remains the only person removed from the judiciary by both Houses of Parliament (1830). These memoirs are notable for including biographical sketches of Irish people from various backgrounds.
