A very sharp copy to boot of the 1944 1st thus, the uncommon 1st appearance in book form of these Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers (Paper # 2219). Clean and VG+ in its dark cloth, with bright gilt-titling and insignia along the front panel and spine. Light scuffing at the rear panel, very light wear to the lower tips. Tipped-in between the front pastedown and the front free endpaper a printed note that states: "This paper No. 2219 'The Queens Midtown Tunnel' was awarded the James Laurie Prize for the year 1945 by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
