Quarto; in the publisher's brown cloth with decoration in gilt and titling in black; 266 pages with plates and portraits, and a frontispiece of Captain John M. Martin; the binding has some light spotting and there is a light spot of rubbing to the spine; with floral patterned endpapers; the front endpaper has a small amount of loss near the top of the front hinge; remnant of a blank leaf before the recto of the frontispiece.~~The Nevins bibliography calls this "a poorly organized by but splendid picture of the almost unknown Florida campaign".~Harwell asserts that this is "the best picture of the campaigns in Florida, by the wife of the commander of the Second Florida Cavalry."
