German composer and organist Arthur Piechler divided his career between Augsburg and Landau and contributed greatly to the musical life of both cities as performer, teacher, and conductor. The majority of his compositions are for solo organ or chorus.

Piechler's Hymne sets "Gesang" from Für die Wandervögel und Pfadfinder (1914) by German poet Alfred Walter Heymel (1878-1914).
