(2) Original Walter Gropius Letters
- Letters
- 1946
1946. Letters. Very Good +. 2 Walter Gropius (1883-1969) typed letters signed (TLSs), one written in German (from London) in 1934, the other written in English (from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, whose Architecture department Gropius chaired) in 1946. Both letters crisp, bright and VG+, with a touch of very light staining along the upper left corners. Both letters neatly folded into thirds, the 1946 letter also includes its original envelope. The 1934 letter measures 7" wide x 9 3/4" tall, the 1946 letter measures 8" wide x 10 3/4" tall and each letter takes up roughly 2/3 of the page. A pair of letters here offered by the legendary founder of the Bauhaus School, indisputably one of the pioneering masters of Modernist architecture.
