A handbill published by the Bethel Baptist Association, a group of Baptist churches in Alabama whose principal object was "extending to planters and other slave-holders ... the offer of the Association's active co-operation, in the work of supplying their slaves with the preaching of the Gospel." The text quotes extensively from the minutes of the Baptist State Convention in Alabama regarding the advantages and duties of preaching to the enslaved.

Breaker served as the editor of the Alabama Baptist, published in Marion (suggesting the place of printing of this handbill). This example addressed to Mr. Burwell, perhaps Charles Blair Burwell of the noted Virginia Burwell family. From the content of this handbill Burwell was evidently a slaveholder in Marengo County, Alabama and perhaps the enslaver of Charles and Amanda Burwell, the parents of the noted African American physician Lincoln Laconia Burwell (1867-1928).
