Chicago: Privately Published, 1906. Cloth. Very Good -. A wonderful piece of turn-of-the-century Chicago city planning: The very uncommon Jan. 25th, 1906 address to the Chicago Real Estate Board by Frederic A. Delano, the address titled "Chicao Railway Terminals: A Suggested Solution for the Chicago Terminal Problem". THIS COPY WARMLY, LENGTHILY INSCRIBED BY FREDERIC DELANO TO HAROLD ICKES, FDR'S LONG-SERVING SECREATARY OF THE INTERIOR. The book, probably limited to just a handful of copies, does show wear, especially along 4 of the page edges, where tape has been applied to close up small tears. Beyond that, there's offsetting to the rear endpaper and, less so, along the rear panel. The small, fragile octavo though, with its paper title affixed to the front panel, is still vey presentable. And, notably, includes 5 color plates at the rear of Chicago Railway Terminals, 3 of the plates oversized fold-outs. A scarce example of Midwestern urban planning -- and an appealing example of unusual Americana to boot.
