A scarce medical journal (two located in OCLC, none in trade, no auctions records), which also includes articles on various other topics of interest: John Quincy Adams on his speech for the seizure of Oregon; Boston Common; Bowditch's Stethoscope; Catalepsy; Congregationalism in New England; Consumption; Dentistry; Galvanism; Insanity; Otter Hunting; Quackery; Tobacco; Vaccination; etc. Hoolihan 2054: "Cornell writes in the preface: 'The proper system of education must commence... in the nursery - be carried through the family, the common school, the academy and the college, and into the active and busy scenes of life, and the laws of health incorporated into that system as a branch of education. But before this can be accomplished, the science of human life and healthful existence must be divested of technical terms and brought down to the capacity of every instructor of youth... To aid in accomplishing these things... is the object of this journal'. Most of the articles, reviews, etc. in the Journal were written by Cornell, who also includes contributions by Walter Channing, John Collins Warren, and others - largely extracted from previously published works.
