Los Angeles/Houston: Cult Movies Press. Fine in Fine dj. (c.2001). First Edition. Hardcover. [a beautiful, as-new copy, with no discernible wear to either book or jacket]. (B&W photographs) SIGNED and DATED by author Dello Stritto in red ink on the title page. An exhaustive chronicle of Lugosi's six-month tour of England, Scotland and Ireland in 1951 in his final stage appearance as Dracula, a gruelling enterprise undertaken as a desperate measure to revive his flagging career. The book also discusses the few films Lugosi made in England: MYSTERY OF THE MARIE CELESTE (1935), DARK EYES OF LONDON (1939) and MOTHER RILEY MEETS THE VAMPIRE (1951), and provides a lot of information on the history of the "Dracula" stage play. (The irony of the book's title is that although one of the hopes of the British tour is that it would result in a West End production, that never came to pass -- so the book might have more accurately been titled "Vampire Over Manchester" (or Cambridge, or Portsmouth, etc.) This was a limited edition of 1,000 copies, this being no. 300, hand-numbered on the copyright page. ****NOTE that additional postage charges will be assessed for international shipping of this moderately heavy volume; if this concerns you, please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.**** Signed by Author .
