An interesting view into nutritional care in the late 1920s: a guide to building a better diet for family doctors and general practitioners, published by the makers of the laxative "Psylla" and the probiotic "Lacto-Dextrin". Includes information on a range of subjects, from ideal infant nutrition to foods for high blood pressure, weight loss or gain, diabetes, bone and blood "building", anemia, and even "Foods for persons sensitized to Animal Protein". Note the charts provided for ideal height and weight, infant feeding, caloric intake, and vitamin values for foods; there is also a chart of calories burned by profession, including "Office man", "Bookbinder", "Shoemaker", "Painter", and "Man Sawing Wood". Advertises the Company's products throughout, with additional advertisements in the rear. Single vol. (9" by 6"), pp. 43, [3], original printed wrps with floral motif on upper wrapper. The Battle Creek Food Company was a branch of, and eventual competitor to, the Kellogg Food Co. Each was owned by one of the Kellogg Brothers, and became competitors after a falling out.
