Seven (7) Folk Art Portraits
- United States , 1860
United States, 1860. Very good. Some minor dust soiling. Toning/yellowing from glaze.. A group of seven (7) particularly lovely Victorian folk art portraits on card, rendered in pencil and ink with gouache, five of which have been glazed. Ostensibly by the same artist, the portraits depict four women and three men, each in a decorative floral border. There is a naturalistic portrait of a woman with her hair down, a woman in an elegant blue dress, and a rather curious portrait of a man dressed in a suit that is half plain, and half yellow with a red arm band and the initials "KP 621" (jockey silks?). The smallest portrait measures approx. 3.5" by 3", and the largest measures 5.5" by 3". Versos blank. Pencil, ink, and gouache on card with (egg wash?) glaze.
