Square, front hinge a bit weak but firmly bound otherwise, gift inscription on the front endpaper, clean otherwise. Illustrated with a frontispiece and twelve other full-page illustrations, Edmonds' work recalls her time working in the field and penetrating the enemy lines as a spy during the first and second Bull Run, Williamsburg, Fair Oaks, Richmond, Antietam, and Fredericksburg.
