Notoriously fragile. Scuffing to boards and along edges. Splitting to spine, with webbing exposed. Tape reinforcement to rear gutter. Front board partially detached, measuring about 4 inches from head of spine. Age-toning to interior pages. Writing on front free endpaper and title page. Shelved in Case 3. Routledge printed nearly 1300 titles in their Railway Library series beginning in 1848. Frequently sold near train stations and other hubs, they were intended for traveling reading, and many did not survive the journeys.
