Boards rubbed and worn, spine leather cracked and chipped, head cap perished, joints splitting, hinges starting. Dampstain along inner edge of front pastedown, preliminaries, and to about p.6. Text evenly tanned, with light, scattered foxing and minimal soiling. Otherwise quite clean internally. Good. The revised and amended constitution of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America, ratified by the General Assembly in May of 1805 and printed by Jane Aitken. Aitken was the daughter and successor of the prominent Philadelphia printer, Robert Aitken. She continued her father's business until 1812 and was a talented printer in her own right. The present volume consists of "the Confession of Faith, the Catechisms, and the Directory for the worship of God; together with the Plan of Government and Discipline as amended and ratified by the General Assembly at their Sessions in May, 1805."
