(n.p.): (published by the author). Near Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1991). First Edition. Hardcover. [slight bumping to lower corners, faint foxing to top edge of text block; the jacket shows just a touch of wear at several corners, very light spotting along spine]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the verso of the title page: "To ____: / nice to talk / to you the other day. / Now you can read / all about what I did / when I visited the / old Hollywood. / Emery." Memoir by a long-time part-time journalist at the Charlotte (NC) News, who in his capacity as "a motion picture reviewer and columnist made more than 50 trips to Hollywood to interview the celebrities and watch them at work." The author's forays to the movie capital began in 1939 and continued into the 1970s; the book is quite anecdotal (most chapters are no more than 3-4 pages long), and seems about evenly divided between goings-on in Hollywood and back home in Charlotte (although almost all the photos are shots of the author with various movie stars).
