Morton (1823-1877) was a strong ally of Lincoln, and condemns here the continued activity of the White League, KKK, and other White Supremacist organizations in the South. Morton was a strong supporter of the Civil Rights Act of 1875. Includes lists of racially motivated killings the South, from Tennessee to North Carolina and beyond, to bolster his case against the South's complacency towards hate crimes.
