His well-known typefaces include Lutetia, Antigone Greek, Romanée, Romulus, and Spectrum. He worked for both the Dutch firm Enschedé and the British firm Monotype. His types became well known in the United States through the Limited Editions Club and in England through the Nonesuch Press. He was also a leading figure in book printing. This memory of van Krimpen by Besnard was triggered by news of his death in October 1958. Limited edition of 24 copies; this is copy #20. Octavo.
