Collection of 111 prospectuses and book advertisements, not including a few duplicates, largely from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, and the odd item either later in the 20th, or earlier in the 19th; including literature, many items for educational books, some marketed directly to schools, others for popular non-fiction and family library type sets, about 75 prospectuses for individual titles, and the odd science or professional book. Some titles represented include a special edition of the Waverly Novels, an 1874 prospectus for Scientific American, Demorest's Family Magazine (with a portrait of Nellie Bly), Mrs. Eddy: The Biography of a Virginal Mind with much on attempts to suppress the book, War and Peace, The Cowell Press edition of Joyce's Chamber Music. Also included is a solicitation slip to update a Who's Who in New York entry for Frederick Mitchell Munroe, and two event ads, one for a talk by Mary French Field and another ad for The Broome St. Tabernacle. Also an early Edmund Blunt broadsheet advertisement.
