To Frederick

United States, 1870. Very good. Some minor offsetting from when the paper was folded when the lettering was still wet.. A hand-lettered love poem "To Frederick", with calligraphic flourishes at the foot. Note the lettering, which mimics printed type; replicating letter forms with serifs in ink by hand is harder than it looks, and shows concerted effort. On lined blue paper measuring approx. 5.75" by 5.75" Oh, there are looks, and tones, that dart,
An instant sunshine, through the heart,
As if the soul, that moment caught,
Some treasure, it through life, had sought.
Those looks, and tones are thine;
The joy and sunshine, all are mine.
