Light toning to interior, small surface tear to p. 7 not affecting text, presentation inscription "To Renee with love from chick (?) BM Baruch Oct 31st 1944." A notably handsome copy. $250. * Only edition. Bernard Baruch was an American financier, statesman and presidential advisor to Wilson and Roosevelt. He was the sixth recipient of The Churchman Award, presented by the magazine "to an individual who has rendered distinguished service 'in the promotion of goodwill and better understanding of all peoples.'" Previous recipients included Eleanor Roosevelt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and William Allen White. Renee Baruch Samstag [1905-1944] was Baruch's youngest daughter. OCLC locates 9 copies of this title.
